| چکیده | ||
| Sodium methoxide is commercially available in both solid and liquid forms in global markets. Its liquid form, typically marketed as a 30 wt.% solution in methanol, has gained the dominant market share in recent years due to the significant growth of biodiesel production. Nevertheless, solid sodium methoxide, owing to its wide range of applications in pharmaceutical industries and chemical synthesis, remains of considerable industrial importance, and the development of its commercial production requires comprehensive techno-economic evaluations. In this study, a process for the production of solid sodium methoxide from methanol and sodium hydroxide solution was designed, simulated, and optimized. Process simulation was carried out using ASPEN Plus software, and mass and energy balances of the individual units were determined. Subsequently, an economic evaluation of the process was performed using the economic analyzer module of ASPEN Plus for production capacitie of 15,000 tons per year, where 10,000 tons were considered as solid sodium methoxide and the remaining capacity as a methanolic solution. The results of the economic analysis demonstrated that the proposed process is economically viable, with an internal rate of return (IRR) of 175% and a payback period of 1.58 years for the specified capacities. The findings of this study indicate that the production of solid sodium methoxide from methanol can be considered an attractive option for the development of the methanol value chain. | ||
