| چکیده | ||
| The aim of the present study was to predict behavioral problems in children of working mothers based on parenting styles, with the mediating roles of parenting stress and parent-child relationship. This research was applied in terms of purpose and correlational in terms of method. The statistical population consisted of all working mothers in Tehran in 2025, from whom 310 individuals were selected through convenience sampling. The research instruments included the Achenbach and Rescorla Child Behavior Checklist (2007), Baumrind’s Parenting Styles Questionnaire (1991), the Abidin Parenting Stress Index Short Form (1990), and the Fine Parent-Child Relationship Evaluation Questionnaire (1983). The data were analyzed using structural equation modeling. The results indicated that behavioral problems were predicted by authoritative (P=0.009, β=0.118), authoritarian (P=0.001, β=0.189), and permissive (P=0.003, β=0.138) parenting styles. Behavioral problems were also predicted through the mediation of parenting stress based on authoritative (P=0.017, Z=2.37), authoritarian (P=0.028, Z=–2.19), and permissive (P=0.017, Z=–2.36) parenting styles. Moreover, behavioral problems were predicted through the mediation of parent-child relationship based on authoritative (P=0.001, Z=3.37), authoritarian (P=0.001, Z=–3.12), and permissive (P=0.001, Z=–3.63) parenting styles. According to the findings, paying attention to the parenting styles of working mothers, reducing parenting stress, and improving the quality of the parent-child relationship can be effective in preventing and decreasing children’s behavioral problems. Therefore, designing educational and supportive interventions for working mothers, focusing on effective parenting and managing occupational and family role pressures, is recommended. | ||
