| چکیده | ||
| The present study aimed to predict obsessive thoughts in employed women based on intolerance of ambiguity and worry, with mind-wandering as a mediating variable. In terms of purpose, the study was applied, and in terms of method, it employed a descriptive correlational design. The statistical population consisted of all employed women working in governmental and non-governmental organizations in Kerman Province in 2025. The research instruments included the Maudsley Obsessive–Compulsive Inventory developed by Hodgson and Rachman (1977), the Mind-Wandering Questionnaire by Carriere et al. (2013), the Intolerance of Ambiguity Scale by McLain (2009), and the Penn State Worry Questionnaire developed by Meyer et al. (1990). Data were analyzed using path analysis through SPSS 23 and AMOS 23 software. The results indicated that intolerance of ambiguity predicted obsessive thoughts through the mediating role of mind-wandering (β=0.156, P=0.001). Similarly, worry predicted obsessive thoughts through the mediating role of mind-wandering (β=0.152, P=0.001). Overall, intolerance of ambiguity and worry, as key cognitive components, directly predicted obsessive thoughts in employed women. In addition, mind-wandering facilitated the influence of these two factors on the development of obsessive thoughts by acting as a mediating mechanism. Accordingly, organizational interventions should simultaneously focus on reducing intolerance of ambiguity and managing worry while targeting mind-wandering through training in metacognitive skills and attentional control. Integrated approaches addressing these three components can play a significant role in preventing and reducing obsessive thoughts among employed women. | ||
