چکیده | ||
The occurrence of natural hazards in ancient times has been one of the most important factors in the decline of human cultures and civilizations. During climate change periods, extreme weather events such as torrential rains and prolonged droughts increase and severely challenge human societies. In the fourth millennium BCE, variable climatic conditions in the Tehran Plain caused the cultural dynamics to be disrupted. This research, with the environmental archaeology approach, discusses the possible causes of cultural decline and collapse in the Tehran Plain in two stages of climate change during the fourth millennium BC. The study data are obtained from the Mafin Abad site, which shows a similar situation with some sites in North Central Iran and Southwest Iran. High-resolution paleoclimate research has been used to reconstruct the climatic conditions of the fourth millennium BC. This research reflects the importance of conducting environmental sedimentology studies in archaeological sites to identify possible environmental reasons for the cultural prosperity and degeneration of prehistoric rural communities. | ||
