Abstract Artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming education, particularly language education, as evidenced by numerous studies in computer-assisted language learning (CALL) journals. These studies explore various AI technologies like natural language processing (NLP), AI-powered education, automatic speech recognition, and chatbots in language learning. However, there's a notable lack of empirical evidence on the effectiveness of AI in language education, necessitating further research into its pedagogical and ethical implications. One study focused on 386 Iranian high school EFL students, using the Students' Perceived EFL Teacher Support Scale to assess the impact of AI-powered speaking assistance technologies, educational level, and learning setting on EFL teacher support. The findings revealed a tri-factorial structure of EFL teacher support, suggesting the integration of AI-powered technologies with traditional teaching methods. This indicates that AI will continue to have a significant role in language education, potentially enhancing language learning and teaching outcomes. To ensure the effective use of AI in language learning, educators should incorporate AI technologies into AI-powered contexts. The study offers implications for sustaining and promoting teacher support, emphasizing the need for further research in this area. | ||
